Hi all my name is Shy and I'm new to the foster/adoption world. I cannot tell you how excited I am to find that I'm not alone in my quests to start a family. This forum is the answer to my prayers :happydance: I'm 25, single and work full time (3 times a week) as a NICU/Nursery nurse. I'm in the beginning of my foster-to-adopt journey and am spending most of my time researching and learning as much as possible. I have it narrowed down to 3 different agencies and want to talk with each of them to narrow it down even more. I'm currently building my first home that will be ready in September and hope to start classes around that time. Hopefully by the end of the year I will have everything ready to go and be licensed to take little ones. I'm in Texas and hoping to find a bit of a support system so if anyone is in the DFW area, so am I!!! Also I'd take any reccomendations or words of wisdom. And hopefully my novel hasn't scared anyone off lol.

Hi,
I'm not in your area but I did adopt a newborn as a single parent about a year ago. For me, a strong solid support system (my family) has been so important in this endeavor.
Good luck.
