I'm searching for my mother or any birth family.
I'm soon going to be moving to Australia, permanently...got a new husband, new home, new job and all new life waiting for me, but I wanted to try to see if I could find some of my family before I'm gone from the country, for good.
I know that both my parents were very young and wanted the best for me. I did have that...I couldn't have asked for a better adoptive family. I was given a life and opportunities that others only dream of.
I only have very positive views on my life and I have no feelings of hurt over being given up for adoption. If anyone can help me, I'd be very grateful...I'd only like to touch base before I move on with my life in a whole new land.

I got the info from a very sweet lady on this site...pharrel...she found the name of my mother and I found my brother listed in the registry from back in 2004. I've sent him an email, but have not heard back, just yet. That is almost the right name...it's Redmon, instead of Rodman...and yes, Fairview is the area I've determined that they might live. I can't believe this happened so fast. I felt like I was grabbing at feathers in the wind, but now, I'm so glad that I made the effort.I'll let you all know what happens.

I looked on Classmates and see this person registered
Robert Redmon
Asheville High School, Asheville, NC, 1964-1968
Robert Redmon
Lee Edwards High School, Asheville, NC, 1964-1968
Since the city is Asheville, I thought I would let you know. The years of school don't seem to match up to someone born in 47, but sure seems pretty close. In fact, it would have put him in the same 'class' as your birthmother, I believe. If you have a Classmates membership, you could send emails to both of these men.
In addition to the address searchhelp gave, I also show a PO BOX for him in the same city. If you need it, let me know.
If I can do anything else, please let me know. Meanwhile, if I find anything more, I will let you know.

Okay...so, I've talked to my aunt in Georgia...and now, my mom and my dad. It looks like my dad will be coming into town on an unrelated trip next week, so I plan to meet up with him then. I'm also going to be making a trip into the mountains to meet my mom, as soon as we can arrange it...my grandmother has to have surgery in the next week, or so, so we're planning it for some time after that. Oh...and I've already corresponded with and sent pics to my sister...and she sent me some back of herself, my parents, and my brother and his little girl. She seems to be very much like me; very friendly and free spirited. My dad was very emotional...said he's been waiting for this day for a long, long time. He and my mom were married a short time after I was born and they've been together, ever since. They were both just too young to have to care for a new baby.I can't believe all this has happened in less than a day. You people are amazing. I couldn't have done it without you. Oceans of love, to all.

Wow, not only do you find them, but you find them together after all these years! And with a brother and sister to boot!! And everyone knew about you and have been waiting for you to find them?!! You must be in a very wonderful, peaceful place right now (along with all the other places that reunion takes you). I am so happy for you and I hope you get everything you want out of this reunion and so much more!
Keep us updated!!
Oh, did you get to talk to Stacy? Just so cool that he was here looking for you 4 years ago.
Jamie
Yes, I have talked to Stacy...and he's just the sweetest guy. They all thought that we'd never find each other. I'm going to be talking to my sister today. She wanted to wait until she was sure she wouldn't cry the whole time...*giggle*
We've exchanged a bunch of pictures and phone calls. My dad called me again, yesterday...and we talked for close to two hours. He had a trip planned into the Raleigh area to see one of his brother's and he's moving it up a week, just so that they can come see me. He's going to be coming into town on Monday and I'm going to be going to meet him and possibly my mother, too.
I sure do hope it's Karma. I always try to be good to everyone and everything around me. I had another good thing happen to me on the day I talked to them, too. My kitty cat that had been missing for 2 weeks came home on that day, so it was quite a happy, happy day.
My mother's birthday and their anniversary is today, so I'm going to call and talk to them in just a little while. They've been married for 41 years. They ran away and got married less than a year after I was born. They were determined, I'd say!!!
I'll let you all know how the meeting goes.
My meeting with my dad went wonderfully...he's such a sweet man. He came down with my uncle and we met at one of my cousin's house, which is only a little over ten miles away from me. Both of my kids went with me and we all went out to lunch, together. We're working on arranging a weekend that myself and my kids can go up to Asheville and meet my mother and the rest of the family...will be sometime, very soon.
I'll post a couple of pictures in my profile...thanks to everyone, again...for being so very helpful and supportive. It's been quite a wonderful year for me.

That's wonderful news! Thanks so much for keeping us updated. I hope the meeting with your mother goes just as well. Please let us know. I hope you have enough time before your move. Maybe they can come to Australia for a visit! Best excuse I ever heard of to go on an Australian vacation!!
Well, it's been quite a whirlwind, but I've now met my whole immediate family, plus some. I just spent 5 days in Asheville with them, as well as going to a couple great shows at a local venue.
My mom and I are alot alike...she's very open-minded and actually, the calmest of the bunch. My 'little' sister can't keep up with me...I took her to both shows that I went to see and she was ready to go, way before I was...*giggle*...just doesn't have that hippie stamina, I guess...:flower:
I couldn't have gotten a warmer reception, from the whole family and they've been very busy spoiling me. My dad has sent me back home with fresh canned veges and jellies and jams and my mom has taken me shopping in the hippie district, which is downtown Asheville. But as much as I love the spoiling, I won't let them go overboard. Told them I didn't think they needed a 42 year old to raise...*giggle, again*
I want to, once again, thank everyone that helped me...it's filled in a missing spot in my life, that I never thought would be filled.
