Does anyone have any suggestions to prevent my 2 1/2 year old from unbuckling the seat belt that restrains his car seat? He has recently discovered how to do this which has provided a few scary experiences. I have piled some heavy things on the buckle, but sometimes he manages to get to it (he's very resourceful).
is it the chest clip or the bottom part. If it's the chest clip try sliding it up, it's much harder for them to get it undone that way.
If it is the bottom part honestly you need to get some kind of cover for it or a different car seat with a harder to undo buckle.
I'd call the manufacturer. You can't be the only one with this problem

Its not his car seat buckle, its the seat belt to the car. I'm thinking maybe I can wrap duct tape around where you depress the latch.
I used to have that problem!
Not with my kids, but with other people that would sit in the back seat and would accidentaly unbuckle the carseats.
This solved the problem:

Good Luck!
Switch to a Britax. Or another one that is hard to undo.
ETA: Oh, nevermind. That said, Britax may also work as my son is too high up to even reach the car's buckle.

Hmm .. did you try talking to your son to explain the danger of undoing his seat belt?
Granted my DD is older (3 1/2) and she can undo top/bottom and the actual seat belt. She has earned the right to utilize this privelege since we talked and she only does it when the car is stopped for us to exit and she assist me if we have to move her car seat to another vehicle.
She loves this independence! and honestly has not taken advantage of it. She has probably been getting herself in and out of the car for a little over 6 mo. She will even advise me that she has not completed putting her seatbelt on if I try to start the car!
Good luck...
