I will start at the beginning so you can understand. In august of 2004 the birth mother left state and left her then 4 month old son with us. We had already had him since he was 2 weeks. In November of 2004 I had to go for guardianship as the state was going to step in and take him. The parents were said to have abandoned him. Now it is 4 years later and I am wondering what steps I have to take to adopt him. I was going to post a letter in the newspaper where they lived last I knew but I have no idea where to start and legal fees are so high here. He is a special needs child due to drug abuse on her part while pregnant, we are all he knows and I just want this finalized. Any help would be greatly appreciated :thanks:
