My father, born circa 1925, died recently. He said he was born in TX, and adopted from an orphanage in Beaumont around 1929 by a single mother in VA.
He has no other family still alive that I'm aware of.
Am I allowed to get his original adoption file and/or his birth certificate to show who his birth parents were? I have to assume that they are also deceased, but would finally like to know my true lineage.
Thx for any help or guidance on this.
I believe Texas seals records for either 99 or 101 years...so, unless you wanted to go to court to have them unsealed...you'll have to wait.
Texas IS a "Original Birth Certificate" State - but the law requires that you have the names of your birth parents in order to obtain it...dumb, I know.
