DH and I are getting serious about adoption...hopefully beginning the process in the next 12 months. Originally, our plan was Guatemala or Korea, then with their issues I moved onto Ukraine or Russia but feel that their travel requirements are prohibitive with three small children at home.
Several times in my research, I've come across Sarah and her blog and am feeling a pull towards Taiwan. We are seeking a boy, infant to 3 years old. Funds are, as with almost everyone, definitely a deciding factor.
We are open to doing an independent adoption...in fact, it is appealing to me as I do not enjoy my life being at the hands of others (I was a military wife for too long I guess!).
I guess, my biggest question right now is that if we wish to have a child in our home in 2 years, should we start the process NOW for Taiwan, rather than later? And at what points in the process are funds due...is it just a little bit at the front with the bulk at the end, giving us time to save up money?
If anyone could give me any words of wisdom, I'd appreciate it. Mostly, I'll just be popping in and seeing how things are going for you all!
