Hi Forum-ers! I wasn't sure where to put this so I figured this was a good spot. I'm the confused B-mom in a sorta rocky reunion that I'm trying to restart after taking a brief breather. My story is all over this site, mostly in bits and pieces, so I won't bore you with the details.
My daughter Jessica and I have limited interaction to e-mail only for the past 2 weeks after some very inappropriate behavior that involved her being arrested on a marijuana possession charge. I have decided to lift the ban and invite her over again after a very sincere apology from her. She came over tonight, helped prepare dinner, made chocolate chip cookies from scratch, ate with us, gave her newborn 1/2 brother a bath and bottle and WASHED CUT AND STYLED MY HAIR! Now that's trust on my part IMO. Wasn't sure if I'd look like this >>:eyebrows: << or have to resort to this >>:battle: -or- this >> :boot: << once she finished but I'm actually doing this >>:happydance: and :cheer: now that she's done and before she left we all did this >>:grouphug:<< and I looked up and whispered this>>:thanks: <<<
It was a great day and I just wish it could be this nice all the time. Tracy

Reunion is full of ups and downs. You have 16 yr old twins: is life with them always smooth? (If so, you have a very unusual family!) You did not raise your 23 year old; therefore, there will be places where your experiences will not mesh. In our relationships with our adult birth children I believe it is important to remember that they are adults. (My mother always said, "when I'm 90 and you're 70, I'll still be your mother and I'll still tell you what to do. That didn't work well with me -- she could tell me what to do, I didn't necessarily do it.) I do not offer advice or suggestions to D unless I'm asked. I try to simply enjoy getting to know him and his family and watching his children grow. Your bdaughter is younger than my bson was when our reunion began and not as mature. Put your seatbelt on and try to enjoy the ride!
