We got "the" call Aug. 10 about a just born baby. I started nursing her at 6 hours of age. She did great. No sore nipples here!
She was up to birth weight before 2 weeks (when they want them to have regained birthweight.) She has gained 9 ounces in the last 6 days. (4 to 8 a week is desired.)
I only supplement one or two ounces of frozen milk a day.
I am tandem nursing my 32 month bio-son.
It would seem all is well, but I know someone who was not able to make a full supply of milk for her adopted babies and she keeps being a Debbie Downer. I get so upset after I talk with her.
Aside from stopping talking to her, I emailed Jack Newman. He says to increase the domperidone, continue tandem nursing, and feels positive I could get a full supply.
We all know a full supply isn't the most important part of adoptive nursing, but it sure ain't bad either.
I'd love stories from people who were successful at adoptive nursing. I've read a few from time to time, but I'd love more. I'm sure others would love to hear the good stories too.
Thanks
Hi...glad you have been able to BF your new little one. I just heard that Domperidone is no longer available in the US. Is this true and if so where are you able to acquire it? What have the side effects been, if any? Thanks in advance for your help.

I bought it from Canada. I've had no side effects except increased milk supply. I also got some online from who knows where. It wasn't as effective.
Sounds like it's not available in US for political reasons, not health reasons. More info on ordering at asklenore.com.
Would you mind sharing from which company you were able to purchase from? I do not want to purchase a less than effective med. I can completely understand a decision to withhold the information.
Thanks again~

I don't remember which Canadian company and I'm out of town so can't check. I would feel comfortable with any Canadian company listed on asklenore.com.
If you want the specific company I ordered from, ask again and I'll pm when I get home. If you don't hear from me in a week, pm me as we are traveling many times this next week.
I got most of my dom from a Canadian pharmacy, but a few times I ordered from a company called Click Remedy. It was fast, the dom was effective and it was cheap. PM me for more info...

Thank you both for the info onthe Dom. I saw Click mentioned on the Ask Lenore site and also mentioned numerous other palces, so I will try them first and see how it goes.
Thanks Again~
I can't remember if I ordered from click or inhouse, but my supply decreased. Could have been some other stuff going on, but for me I didn't think the savings were that great.

Madies mom - just noticed you also asked about side effects - for me the first few days I felt nauseated but that only lasted 2-3 days until my body got used to taking the meds. When I was taking 90 mgs a day I gained a bit of weight - 5 lbs or so. But, when I upped the dosage to 120 mgs (on Lenore's advice) I gained 10-15 lbs more. So, that was not alot of fun - but still totally worth it! Anyways, I have been off the dom and herbs for about 4 months now (but still nursing) and have lost it all pretty quick. I've talked to others who have also had this experience - the good news seems to be that once you stop taking it, you lose the weight. And of course, some women don't have this side effect at all.
