What impressed you the most in Poland?
For me it was how modern it was! I had been to Russia a few years before and expected Poland to be similar, but it was not. I was surprised to find stores that rival wal mart, but still the mom and pop little stores were there. Internet service was so easy to get, and cel phones too.
The people! Everyone we encountered (with a single exception) at restaurants, stores, money exchanges, and so on, were polite, friendly, and helpful. I've lived in Germany for 15 years now and I certainly can't say that here!!!

Yes! the people were so helpful and I was surprised at how many spoke at least a little English.
We were impressed with the driver, interpreter and attorney, the orphanage and staff, and the hospitality of the two families that helped us so much - our landlords of the apartment in Wroclaw, and the family that found the apartment for us. They were all lovely.
We were NOT impressed with the non-existent customer servicewe experienced all over Poland. My husband (who never says anything about anything) was getting really annoyed with it towards the end of our trip and chalked it up to history. It was amazing, though, how people who would treat us with disdain would completely to a Jekyl and Hyde thing once they found out we were adopting orhphans.
