Hello,
I am a girl born on 8/14/1970 in Philadelphia, PA, to a woman supposedly of German descent.
I was relinquished at birth or close there after. I spent about three months in a Catholic Charities orphanage (I don't know the location) until I was adopted in mid November. My adoption was handled by CC, which at the time they was called Catholic Social Services.
My adoptive mom says she was told I was born in a St. Stephen Hospital, but I have not found any record of any St. Stephens Joseph Hospital (?) ever existing. Unfortunately, as with other details that I have not been able to confirm (and with knowing the way she is, which is another story) I think she's just been making up details as we go along just to answer my questions.

Hi Bellagitana -
I'm sorry no one responded to your post. I'm trying to go through this folder and respond to people who haven't had a reply, so a lot of what I'm typing is a repeat on every topic.
If you haven't seen any of my other posts, I'd suggest the following steps. Apologies in advance if you've already done these steps.
1.) First, please register at the International Soundex Reunion Registry.
You can download the forms from here:
ISRR - International Soundex Reunion Registry
2.) You can check to see if either one of your parents have registered at the Pennsylvania Parent's Registry. Their website is at
Health: Adoption Registry Information
4.) Please search the registry here and if you don't see any matches, set up a search profile yourself:
Adoption Registry - Records, Reunion Registries, Adoptees, Search Reunite
5.) There are three great Pennsylvania search pages you can read over. Each one has a great mailing list too. They can help you with filing waivers of confidentiality as well as contacting the agency or court of your adoption to see what type of search services they offer:
Pennsylvania Adoption Search and Education - Main Menu
PAAdoptionConnection : We are an adoption search and support group located in Western PA.
PA Adoption Reunion Registry (PARR)
Good luck and please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
~Theresa
