We are happy to let everyone know that we have accepted a referral for a young baby boy (under 15 months). We are extremely excited since we started this process back in Nov '05 and after almost three years, we are finally getting to complete the process. We are excited for the 1st trip where we will get to meet and bond with him. We certainly will have many questions for those who have completed this process as we quickly prepare. Unfortunately, you prepare for a long time, but forget many of the important details when it finally gets close! One question already is how long was it between your first trip and second trip (if you made two trips)? If only one trip how long did you stay while in Poland.

We intended to make two trips, but the judge had other views once we arrived in court to be granted permission for the bonding period :) She decided that she would not grant bonding without they girls staying with us 24/7 and the orphanage director psychologist (and us) were worried about then having them returned to the orphanage since they were too young to understand we would be coming back for them. So I agreed to stay the entire time, while my husband made two trips. The judge and the equivalent of the district attorney allowed us the minimum 2 weeks for bonding and the minimum 2 weeks waiting period since I needed to make last minute arrangements to stay the entire time and our almost 5 y.o. son and my mother-in-law were with us. All in all we were there 6 weeks, however the time in between would have been more like 4 weeks if we had made 2 trips (2.5 - 3 weeks for trip 1; 3.5-4 weeks in between and then ~7-10 days for the second trip). Congratulations!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone. We will be traveling to Southeast Poland, in the town of Rzeszow. We have family in Poland so there is a lot of support and my wife also speaks Polish so we should be okay since we been to Poland a couple of times in the past. We appreciate everyone's support since it has been a long process and we along with our current children cannot wait to meet our child.
Congrats! There's not much to Rzeszow, but it is right next to Lancut, which imho is probably one of the most beautiful palaces in Poland, along with its horse-drawn carriage collection and gorgeous gardens. I once actually hitch-hiked from Lancut to Rzeszow as a teenager as Lancut is home to International Music Festivals during the summer (in which I participated). I even played in the great ballroom in the Palace, as well as practiced under many of the amazing "canopy" trees in the park. So be sure to take a day to visit there. It is stroller friendly!
