Hi Everyone,
My husband and I are new to this site and just wanted to introduce ourselves.
Our names are Steph and Dan are we are currently parenting two great kids we adopted from Russia 3 years ago. They are now 6 and 9 and we are ready to grow our family once again.
We decided to go domestic this time because of the travel. We were open to race and gender and were matched rather quickly through a great agency (PM if you would like the information on who).
We are matched with a great birthmom and are expecting our baby at the end of November.
We are a cauccassian family and are adopting an african-american infant. So wanted to start here to meet other families that we can share the experience with!
All the best to everyone and we will update you as our new journey continues!!
Steph and Dan

Welcome to the boards!
Here, you will find people from all different walks of life on these board. I'm in AA single lesbian starting the process of adopting a special needs CC, Asian or Eurasian baby domestically in about a year. This thread can be a little dead sometimes so you will get more responses in the "General Adoptive Parent" thread whenever you have questions. The "Transracial Adoption" thread can also be a good place to meet other members too.

Hi I along with my DH are AA adoptive parents of a beautiful AA toddler girl. Our journey took 2 years from contemplation to paper work, to domestic infant adoption, to getting a call about DD who was a toddler in foster care. Would not change that for the world. Feel free to ask questions, what better info than from one who has experienced being there. Best wishes to you, in this adoption travel. :-)

Hi nickchris
my name is reynolde and i'm very interested in adoption. I was adopted myself so i really feel the need to adopt a child. I'm from africa and my husband is AA. I have a step daughter and a baby boy, 18 months; but i really want to have a little girl. We are not rich at all so i think we will have to adopt through th foster care system. I was wondering if it was possible to have an infant or toddler from the foster care because all the information i had read were most of the time for older children.
Please feel free to give me all information you have.
thanks

Hi!! Hey cool, I love coming across Black adoptees, love to hear about your perspective one day. Give me a pm, if you need any more info. I can also give you the agency we used. I also know others with a lot of experience in the aa adoption road. Life is busy in my household.. so for those see inactivity is this section, please do not see it as an indifference. We were not foster parents and DD happened to coem into our lives, out fo the blue. Her SW made a call to our agency, since they did not have a family in their fostercare families who was the right fit for her needs at the time. I am also a stay at home mom.. so that was a huge plus for her. Therefore, we ended up being a straight placement-adoption.

I just happened upon this thread. I am in Texas, single and looking to foster-adopt two children (at least). RIght now I wanting smaller children because I want that experience. I do want to adopt school age girls later.
I am looking to meet people in similiar situation, unfortuately I rarely meet AA people that are adopting, mostly interested in meeting single women who are adopting or have adopted for moral support.
:grouphug: So Hello to you all.
Just wanted to chime in. I don't post here much anymore but wanted to be a resource if you need one.
I'm an adoptive parent who has adopted from the foster care system via the foster to adopt program and have also completed a private agency infant adoption. I've done lots of research on agencies so I'm willing to share whatever information I have.
The foster to adopt program is hard but it's the best way to get the youngest child possible from the foster care system. We set our age range as 0-4 and ended up with newborns most of the time. When we didn't get an infant the oldest of our foster to adopt kids were still under 2 years old. It's a great program if you can stick it out. The average time in my area is about a year and half to get a child who will become available for adoption.

Pursuingmydream, Hi - I'm a single AA woman who is looking to fost-adopt. It took me a long time to act on this desire but I finally made the decision this year. I'm going through my local foster care system and was licensed this past September. But I am also looking into foster-adopt through an agency as well. I have found this site to be very informative. If you don't already know, there's a single forum here as well. Well, just wanted to say welcome!
