Brook pointed this one out to me. Debbie says Oy!
The OP used the term bwomb to describe her birthmother.
Could bear watching. So far no one seems to have picked up on it. At least no one has commented on it, but if someone does bring it up things could get ugly.
Other similar, basically derogatory terms get edited. Should this too?? I don't know where exactly the line is?
Still standing by my Oy! ;)

The line can be a bit fuzzy, but basically if it's derogotory or is more likely to be offensive to a large group of people, edit.
In this particular case, names that diminish a bmom to nothing but a breeding vessel should always be edited.
That is in label/name situations though. If someone says "I don't see my bmom as anything more than a womb", we wouldn't edit that as it's her opinion of her specific person. She'd get called on it by the members, but we wouldn't moderate that term then.
Debbie....don't worry...soon I'll be crashing on my loopy le do le high from my vicodin. LOL!
yeah...when i first saw that, i thought it HAD to be a typo or something.....but i guess not. yikes!

I thought so too Brook, til I realized she had put the b at the end so that's pretty clear she did mean womb.

Probably if I wouldn't try to type with one hand while making 'ants on a log' with the other it would help my typing speed too! Multitasking can only be taken so far! :)
Hope you are feeling better soon!
Thank you all for your attentiveness.

Thanks all.
Debbie - I wasn't sure if it should be changed, but then again I couldn't as I'm not a CM. ;)
Brandy - one word birthwomb is offensive to me also and I've never given birth. I would much prefer she had used the term 'my first mother'.

I've seen it used by a couple of (angry?) adoptees. The basic point as I see it is to dehumanize the person who gave birth to them. They wouldn't like the fact that I basically pity them for having that need!
I prefer uterus myself... much more clinical!

Honestly, my only thought at first was 'oy!' and then I started thinking about it after you PMed me and just didn't know. In addition to difficulty with multi-tasking I also have difficulty with decision making. :)
What's offensive to me is that first moms get all the cool names. And a ton of them.
All I get is fake mom or babysitter. How uncreative.

Oh and Deb..do you use choco chips or raisins for your ants? LOL!
Yes, you'll be quizzed later y'all, so pay attention
Raisins. Don't tell DD that chocolate chips are an option or that will be the end of the raisins! My DH introduced her to 'ants on a log' a while ago and she is obsessed with it. At least it is relatively healthy, but we both end up sticky!
Another quiz?! It's not going to be in Greek or Hebrew is it? ;)
