My baby girl was born in the evening on June 2 1974. I was approx 18 yrs old and gave birth when I was seven months pregnant. She weighed approx 3 lbs and a patient advocate for the hospital said I wouldnt be able to take care of the baby (already having a son who was 10 months old at the time). She said she knew of a couple who wanted to adopt and she would have a great life. Having no family, job or home after 4 weeks of Tonya (baby) being in the hospital I signed away my rights. I walked out of the hospital devastated and that was the last time I saw my daughter. I have since then had another daughter and a son but I still love my baby with all my heart. Please help!! Her birth name was Tonya Renee Dorsey.

I had a daughter born 8/22/1970 in IL also. Mine was born in Aurora, IL.
Do you have the name of the city your daughter was born in? Or, have you tried searching with a search person?
I had one contact me from a post I made such as yours and she was extremely helpful. Since my daughter was born in a town outside of Chicago she said it was much easier to identify who she was.

Yes - this site does work. Hope you had a good evening. I have an email address for a search person who has access to IL birth indexes. These are not birth certificates. She doesn't even need to know your name, let alone your daughter's name. The birth indexes go by dates of birth, city of birth, race of child, and from that she can narrow it down to your daughter's adoptive name. The birth indexes do have numbers on them which coincide with the original birth certificates that were prepared when we gave birth and named our children.
Just so you know - she did tell me I was "very" lucky to have given birth in Aurora rather than Chicago because there are many, many more births in Chicago than the smaller outlying cities. But that doesn't mean it's not possible. Let me know if you want her email address. You could then communicate directly with her. If you click on my user name "Humbird753" above and then click on public profile, you can send a PM (personal message) to me and we can communicate that way about this.
Let me know - and God bless you.
