Please watch this thread carefully today. It is likely to get nasty.
If it reaches the point of closure, that's fine. Only closure though. No thread deletion.
*buckling in for bumpy ride*
Thanks!
As I told Brandy when I im'd her about it, "Whew...it's not just me then". I read that post 3 times looking for the reason why she had the life scared outta her and couldn't find it. I could see reasons to be alert or perhaps even suspicious since they've had a lot of crime lately, but fear?
And why post "a black man"...that is really not relevant, especially when she says she lives on a busy street, people go by all the day long etc. I'm more suspicious of unknown men in my quiet little cul de sac than I ever was on my previous home on a busy street in the city.
So ya...I hate to judge, but it does sound racist.
Sorry - just had to post about it and can't on the thread so y'all got it. LOL!

I think a lot of people are like us...."did she really post that?" and at a loss for words really. The posts will come.
I'd really like it if someone asked her for further explanation as to why this was so scary to her. I just don't understand and feel like I'm missing something. Or is that just the part of me that tries to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and the part of me that wishes this stuff didn't happen? Sigh..
yeah....i think if she would have left out the part where he was black, i would have just thought "i guess i could see why that would be scary." i don't want a strange guy standing on the sidewalk staring at me either. but i really feel like she is saying that the fact he was black did scare her. if that is true, then i am surprised, being that she is an active member of this forum, and that we are ALWAYS complaining about people commenting on our children being brown, being different, etc. i think it will be interesting to see what she says in response when she comes back to read the thread. my money is on the "that's not what i meant" defense.

Ya, I think that's what threw me the most..."young black male". Would I call her a racist, well no. I think it can be taken (as I did) as a racist comment though.
Anyway...while certainly an active thread, it's been respectful I think. If Sara asks to have it closed, that's fine. I know she said no more replies, but she's still reading it and she's not asked for it to be closed, so I'll follow her lead on that. Unless it gets ugly that is.
alright...i guess crick went to bed. it is what i'd like to do too. should i close this thread for the night?
ok...i can't babysit any longer. i'm closing hte thread until the morning...if someone else wants to open it when they can watch it, be my guest....but i am making the decision to close it for now. send me to time out if i'm wrong. lol. :) good night!

Sorry! Good call!:)
I've not read it yet this a.m., but I'm sure it was more of the same and done. I don't see the need to re-open it.

no need - they'll know...it's a done topic, the OP likely wants it closed, and it'll just get nasty.
If someone pm's you about it, you can just say "The moderating team decided the thread has reached it's end". SImple response anyway. Or ignore it really...you don't have to explain anything.
If you get hassled, send them to me.
:)
Edited to add - Well, that's good - I'm sure she's ready for a new day. I know I would be. We all have posts where we say something that sets someone off etc.
