My husband and I are hoping to adopt from the DRC, but I'm finding conflicting info on how long we have to be married. I have seen agencies that require married couples to be married at least five years while other agencies don't list a minimum amount.
Please PM me if you know if you can adopt from DRC if you haven't been married five years and what agencies would work with us? I'd love any advice on good agencies to work with!
According to the U.S. State Department, Congo does require couples to be married for five years.
Be aware, however, that some countries have a waiver process with regard to some requirements, though not all. It is possible that, in the DRC, the length of marriage rule can be waived in some cases. Talk to several reputable agencies and see what they are currently saying about the possibility of getting a waiver.
