My wife and are adopting a 12 (almost13) year old boy who has sisters that where adopted to family friend in Nov. 08. We will be submitting our dossier to ICBF the week of March 16. Does anyone have any ideas on how long of a wait time we should be looking at for the Colombian approvals to be completed? ICBF has been aware of our intentions to adopt this boy since Dec. and we are hoping things move quickly because of his age and having sisters already here. Any info would be helpful.

ICBF usually takes 2 to 3 months to review a Dossier. If they do not request any additional information, then they will issue you your approval letter and your referral letter would then follow. Since you are requesting a specific child, they should be able to produce those two documents quickly. Your only delay will come if they request additional information. That delayed us for 6 weeks. Looks like you will be traveling sometime this summer!

Thanks Donna for the reply. Of course we would love to be able to travel as soon as posible but we know we need to have patience. We are praying that ICBF will act quickly due to his age and the fact he has sisters living in our area.
