I stumbled on this website last night. It talks about current legislation to open original birth certificates for adult adoptees in the state of California. If we all join forces and rally for this bill, maybe just maybe we can make a difference.
You do not have to have a paid membership. You can volunteer to make phone calls, send emails, etc. to help get this bill passed so we can get our original birth certificate.

Unfortunately, no it didn't pass. California is still a closed records state. If you are searching in California, I would highly recommend petitioning the court for your original birth certificate. It took a couple years but worked for me.
Hopefully the laws will change someday soon. Everyone should have access to their own information.
what forms did you use to petition the court, I beleive i have ask you this before i live in washington state and was born in california and adopted by a stepfather
