Well, the little guy has made HUGE progress. Just a month and a half ago he was a spitting, bitting, kicking, pinching, hitting little ball of fury. Every tantrum became a meltdown because he just couldn't calm himself. Whew, and he was in motion 24/7, and hated bedtime.
Now, he's completely different. Calm...so calm that that yesterday at the park when told it was time to go he reached out to scratch---paused and stomped his feet! (We've been working really hard on "It's ok to be mad, but not to hurt other people. When you're mad stomp your feet and say, 'I'm MAD'.") Of course, since he's non-verbal, we haven't gotten the "I'm mad" part yet :)
Plus, from raging and pitching a royal fit at bedtime, he is not just going to bed but thrilled to go to bed. He just laughs and runs to climb in bed when told its time for night-night.
Whew, a month ago I thought this would never work and that I was totally in over my head. I'd even called the social worker and given up---I'm so glad I re thought it before the call was up!
