How old were your little ones when you took them out of the crib and started in a toddler bed?
My dd will be 13 months when her ds/db is born and I was just thinking wether I will need to buy another crib or if I could switch dd to a toddler bed. She will be moving to a new room so her ds or db can have the nursery!

I moved my BS into a toddler bed at 17 months. He had difficulty understanding to stay in bed at that age. We ended up replacing his door with a cheaper one and cutting it in half so that we could lock the bottom but still have the top open to check on him. Do you have a pack and play that you could use for a short time until she is a bit older? I would worry about a child at that young of an age that might get out of bed at night and wander around their room (or even the house) unsupervised.

I do have a pack n play and the baby will be in the bassinet for awhile! Our dd only stayed in the bassinet about a month due to being advanced and she was all over it by the time she was a month! I don't have a problem buying another crib...I just wanted to get some ideas from other people to see what they thought! Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it! I think I will just buy another crib!
i had one who use to climb out of his cot at 15 mths with a loud thud.i ended up changing him to an adult matteress on the floor untill he was old enough to climb in and out safely.i bought a big stack of magazines and for the 1st couple of weeks,i sat in his door way.we also used a stair gate in his door way.
Thanks everyone for the comments...it has been 18 years since I had a little one! DH and I talked and decided to keep her in the crib. I found a really nice crib, changing table, & dresser for a really good price on Craigslist and my dh is going to look/purchase it tomorrow!:cheer: :cheer:

Well, it sounds like you've made your decision. But I'll comment to say I think you'll be happy with it. We moved our daughter to a toddler bed at about 21 months because we needed her crib for our youngest. We kept him in the pack-n-play for about 4 months and he really needed more room by that time. Our daughter made the transition quite well after two REALLY hard weeks. Several times during those two weeks I was VERY ready to go buy a third crib! LOL. No trouble since then though. My boys are now 19 and 23 months respectively. I really hope to keep them both in their cribs as long as possible. They like their cribs just fine and it seems so much safer and easier. :)
