My name is Brittany, But y'all can call me B. I have known I was adopted my whole life, but am just now starting the looking process. I'm 23.. and I have NO IDEA what to do. My parents didn't go through an agency, but through a friend lawyer, who is now a judge who claims they have no paperwork. I'm so frustrated, because I don't have any names or anything. I bought 2 memberships to record searches, in zeal of finding the name, but was disappointed at the point when they couldn't find my last name (which is my adopted last name.) I need prayer.. that God would give me patience, and financial help (I'm in a 9 month discipleship program called Masters Commission, and cannot work..thats a whole nother story..) anyone have any pointers? encouragement?

Birthmoms are at a disadvantage when trying to locate their children as they do not have any name or even location as to where to start when it has been a closed adoption. When I posted in registries I used only the information I knew: birthday/hospital/city/state of birth/agency that did the adoption.
Have you searched the internet/registries on your birth date? "ISO daughter [with your DOB]" in there. Phrases like this on the internet can even pick up on posts in forums. Also, try a search on your birth date in the forums here, she might have found this site and posted.
Yes, there are birthmothers out there looking for their children, but there are also birthmothers out there that don't feel they have the "right" to search. (I know that since that is the way my birthmother felt when I found her.)
Hang in there!! It can take time, but it is all worth the roller coaster ride in the end.
PS-My daughter found me in the registry here at a.com by searching on her birth date.
