I'm no help at all: my Connor (also Mayan) has the stick-straight hair, and my sweet Cristian...well Cristian exhibits VERY caucasian features.
I LOVE the pics of your sweet princessa!

Our DS has straight hair, but DD had very curly hair as a baby, but it's gotten straighter as it has gotten longer.
I think all the curly-headed girls who posted are beatiful!!!
My DD has very curly hair (shirley temple like -- not thick, just curly). Winter was hard due to dryness where we live. My solution to frizziness was to get her hair cut shorter and then use "product" (leave-in conditioner from children's hair cutting place). I joke with people that I use drug store stuff for my hair, so she gets better hair product than me.
My DD is also quite fair by Guat standards -- my guess is she does not have a lot of Mayan ancestry, maybe more Ladino/Hispanic. I have had Guatemalan/Hispanic people here tell me she doesn't look Guatemalan,,,,when I tell them she was born close to El Salvador, they say they see that is more her ancestry vs. Guatemalan.
Your children are beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!Our daughter has very Mayan features and her hair was stick straight for the first 6 yrs of her life. Now it is turning CURLY!! It is too cute!!
Aren't Guatemalan babies/children just sooooooooo cute??

This is interesting to me. My son is very fair and has light brown, curly hair and light brown eyes. Everyone tells me he does not look Guatemalana, I say, no he does not look Mayan, but Guatemalans can look like anything. I am sort of glad there are others like him out there- when he is in a group of adopted Guatemalan kids, he definitely stands out. I worry a little that it will be an issue with him. Everyone also says he looks just like me!
Here are 2 pictures- one from a year ago where you can see his curly hair a little bit better and one more recent.
Such beautiful curly-tops! Our 4 year old has dark brown, curly hair. Although I love the curls I keep it cut because it just gets big and wild. His hair is just like my husbands. Eddie looks more like my husband than our bio kids. Our 2 year old has black, straight, shiny hair. We get questioned at times if he is Asian. Everyone comments on my boys' gorgeous hair. Cute story. Their little cousin is a few weeks younger than Naldo. She is adorable but for lack of a better description has "bad" hair. Very thin and wispy. When we saw her a few weeks ago, aside from trying to hug Naldo to death she couldn't keep her hands off his hair. She chased him around and touched it and pulled it and basically tried to yank it out of his head. Naldo didn't know what to do. I think she was jealous of his hair!

Use a gentle baby shampoo and wash his hair every 2–3 days to avoid over-stripping natural oils. Dilute the shampoo with water, massage his scalp gently, and rinse thoroughly. If the oiliness continues, consult a pediatrician to check for conditions like cradle cap.
