So we had to bring the little guy to the emergency room because I called the after hours nurse and she advised us to go (terrible cough). When we got there I gave registration the medical authorization form and told them I had the parents phone number if they would like it. I gave it to them. After which we were pretty much sent in to the ER. I was in such a rush I did not even think to call his parents until after we were at the emergency room and then I could not use the cell phone and I am cerrtainly not going to leave him alone in the ER to go outside to call them. Who is responsible for calling the parents if we show up at the emergency room? US, the state, the hopistal?
We have had lots of ER visits for our two foster kids - we average about 2 a month for their health issues. At first, before we got to know the biological parents, we always had the hospital SW call them. After we got a good relationship with the bio dad, we would call/text him from the ER. (We can use our cells there, but I wouldnt leave my fs to make a call if it meant stepping outside the hopital) Mom is unstable, so we don't call her and let the state take care of informing her of visits. To be honest, I doubt that the state has told her of only a handful.

I've never had bparent's phone numbers, so my only calls would be to after-hours line for the county and I'd leave a message for the CW.
I always inform the birthparents of regularly scheduled medical appointments, but not for ER visits. Typically I call the CW and let her know what is going on and then I will let the BPs know at the next visit. We haven't run into any issues yet with ER visits - and both of my FKs have had several in the last year.
