I am nursing my 3 week old baby, and when I pump after or between nursings I get about 1/4 ounce total from both sides. She is nursing about every 3 hours, on both sides for 10-15 minutes per side.
I did the Newman-Goldfarb protocol, did BCP for 4 months with Domperidone. We got the call after she was born, so stopped the BCP and started the herbs and pumping. She 1st latched at 10 days old, and we are doing pretty good with the Lact-aid.
I am wondering if I need to pump as well as her nursing to establish my milk supply. As you all know, nursing, then pumping, then making up more bags is A LOT of work, and when I don't pump I enjoy it much more. Plus I am still working part-time, while my husband is on full-time paternity leave, and so pumping is just "one more thing to do". I do pump when I am work.
What do you think?
Thanks.
I am not planning to continue pumping for a long at all, if any. I didn't pump at all after about day 3 with my son and we did fine, but he was 7 months old.
