Who determines if a child has aspergers? We have a 13 yo foster daugher that we plan to adopt. She is 13 but acts about 8-10 years old. She has no social skills and has trouble making friends. She is extremely friendly, but just is terrible in social situations. She also is fixated on music & movies and wants to talk about them (obessively) non stop! So is this because she was neglected and alone alot as a child and that's all she had, or could it be aspergers? Just wondering who determines this.
In our case, her CW had to agree for her to be tested and then we were given a referral. We are fairly certain M is undiagnosed Aspergers, a much better fit than the alphabet soup she has attached to her now!
