I recently wrote to the NC DSS to obtain the agency which handled my adoption. Yesterday I received a letter stating that my adoption was aproved in Vance County. This morning I called the Vance County DSS and kept getting referred to different people all whom seemed unfamiliar with what I was requesting. The last woman I spoke to stated that the woman who normally deals with adoption was not in the office that day and she would leave her a message to contact me. However she seemed rather confused and thought I was requesting information about the identiy of my birth parents despite my attempts to explain to her what non-identifying info was. Does anyone have an suggestions as what my next step should be. Should I call back and if so is there a specific person whom I should speak to. Is it a better idea to write in and if so should my letter include the same information I sent to the NC DSS? Thank you for any help!

I contacted Vance County years ago and got a run around. A lady told me my record was lost when they moved. I don't belive it. Do you know where the records are kept that we can view? All I know is that the adoption started in Vance and completed in Granville. I know the age and race of the birthparents.
My email is avalynn@gmail.com if you have any info.
