It can be such a challenge to find appropiate African-American dolls, but recently I hit on gold!
Amazon.com: Corolle Les Cheries Doll Ccile - 13" Doll: Toys & Games
This doll is even more beautiful in person than on the picture. She's so stylish and I LOVE her hair. It's hard to tell on the picture but her hair is full of little spiral curl ringlets... much like DD's after getting it washed. On the pic, the doll's skin tone doesn't look at realistic as it does in person... very rich and natural coloring.
In a pinch I bought this doll (below) for DD a while back...

It's fine, but I wanted something that represented my DD's beauty more realistically.
I'm waiting to buy this one... it went up $30 in a matter of days... I figure it can come down just as quickly. So it's on standby...

Certain parts of town have more of a selection than others. Somebody called me on the weekend and said to check out Kmart. I'll have to go to Cartersville for my closet Kmart.

I feel you on the hair combing sessions. Ouch! And DD has the nerve to say I'm doing something wrong for it to hurt when she's combing it. Do not use a rat tail comb on my hair if you don't know how to use it little girl! LOL
Yes, I just visited there... all they had were Barbie heads. We live in a "Barbie-free" zone... :cowboy:
Kayla (styling head) is the Black doll from the Barbie line, but it's sold out on Amazon.
Sleeplvr that is too funny, I hide the combs.. only the brush. lol
DD loved the doll house and the family. One of the moms hair is already "restyled".
Was not looking for it, but I found the Princesses Tiana doll at K-mart.

That doll is so cute! Thanks for the link. Did anyone see the book at the bottom of that page? It's a new version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It has an AA girl in it. Looks cute! It had great reviews because in the end the bears help Goldilocks clean up before she leaves. I love that Goldilocks is black. I'm getting that one!

The Corolle dolls are some of the best - just beautiful, and very "authentic". I have one waiting to give to my dauthter at Christmas, and it looks just like her!
I recently found a great doll at Wal-Mart. She's one of those American Girl knock-offs. She is prettier than the one at Target. Even though my little one is only just turning 1, I bought it for when she is about 3. Good AA dolls are hard to find!

OMG! This doll is now $249! Are they insane?? When I first saw it, it was $59, then it jumped to $89... now $249?? WTH ever...

They must have discontinued that doll or sold out. AA collectible dolls are made in much smaller quantities than CC dolls. AA dolls end up being rare once you eliminate all the dolls that are actually played with by children.
There's another doll that is the same size at the original price. She's okay but not as cute as the one you wanted.

If you do a search using African American you will see all the Doll Market offers in AA dolls. They have a pretty cute fairy doll. It's rare to see an AA fairy doll besides Disney's Iridessa.
FWIW... Don't post doll links until after you place your order. If you are not ready our forum members probably are. LOL!
