Hi, we are trying to buy a new mobile home to give all our kids more room, we have 2 children we adpoted and 4 foster children in our home now, the bank wants to talk to someone at dhr to verify that 2 are our children and 4 are foster, it puts us over budget for a loan to have 6 dependents and they want us to use our kids subsidy and foster board payments as income to put us in budget for 6 dependents. Can we do this? Should we let the bank call our worker to verify this? If so should I call our worker first and let her know the bank is going to call?
Thanks

How did the mortgage co even find out about the other kids? Fkids are not our dependents, even though we can claim them on taxes. They are wards of the court, DCFS. Our subsidy is not OUR income, it's reimbursement for the money we spend on the kids.

I agree,
Foster children do not constitute dependents from a financial standpoint as, theoretically, the subsidy provided by the state is meant to cover their living expenses (even though it is often not enough, especially if a child has special needs). Hence, they should only consider your mortgage application based on your 2 children and income.
Best wishes!
