We are adopting three siblings from Ghana, West Africa and plan to travel in December of this year. The boys are 7 and 5 and their little sister is 18 months. My husband and I will both be traveling for the adoption. I'm pretty sure we'll be flying through Heathrow, so it's a long flight back. I'd love to get feedback from any of you who have adopted 3 young siblings at once and traveled home with them. Would you recommend having a third person come with us (another family member, for example), or would that make things more complicated for the children? We don't have any other children, so it would just be the two of us and the three young children. Love to hear your stories, ideas, suggestions, advice. . .thanks!

We adopted 3 from Colombia (boys ages 2, 5 and 8) in 2007. It was just my husband and I. They did fine on the flight home, but fortunately it was only about a 4 hour flight and then another 2 hour flight. If you have spent some time with them before the flight home so that they know you I would think it would be fine. Make sure you take plenty of new things for the flight for entertainment and snacks or drinks for the descent to avoid ear trouble. The older ones should be able to watch a movie on a portable DVD player which would help to pass the time. Hope that helps.
