What do sealed adoptions gain? They hurt more than they help!
Why is it the barbaric practice of sealed adoptions are still not allowed in the State Of Illinois?! I know there are others as well. But REALLY, what do the court systems GAIN from this? What's in it for THEM?
Are you like me and sat and wondered about this? Have you ever wondered what all the anonimity is all about? It makes me feel like I was in a 12 step meeting! I also feel like it was within my own family and they're covering for someone ELSE!
Nowadays we hear the words b _ _ _ _, sl _ _ on TV. Back in the dark ages, Clark Gable had to fight the studio's for one single word, ****, to be used in his infamous line,
"Frankly my dear, I don't give a ****!"
Everything is out in the open....almost! We CAN'T KNOW OUR OWN BIRTH PARENTS?! OUR OWN NAME AT THE TIME OF OUR BIRTHS?! I WASN'T THERE TO REPRESENT MYSELF AND SAY NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
How about we file a class action lawsuit against the state of Illinois for VIOLATING OUR LIFE, LIBERTY AND PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Gorilla,
I wish I knew the answer to your questions. Have you looked to find a open records in Illinois group? Each voice adds weight to the movement.
As to wondering if you are genetically related to your family...can you afford to do some dna testing to find out?
Times are changing but whether or not Illinois will ever open, no answers. But the good news for future adoptees is that openess in adoption based on the level that is right for each family is happening! That's a good thing. Parents are making sure they have their childs original birth certificates before the adoption is final and the bc is sealed. All points to a much easier road for those children and future children. Truly something to be happy about.
Kind regards,
Dickons
