Dori, There really is no average - it varies based on a number of factors:1. Race2. Travel3. Expenses pre-birth4. Medical expenses5. Post Birth expenses6. Legal Counsel7. Agency fees (if required)8. Facilitator fees (if used)9. Homestudy cost (varies by location)10. Length of MatchHonestly, the cost can be as little as a few thousand dollars to as much as $50+ thousand. A lot will depend on the kind of professional you use, the services they offer, the expenses involved in the match, travel requirements (in state, out of state) as well as the length of the match and all of the counseling/pre-birth services your agency/professional will charge you for.You might consider creating a list of questions to ask any potential professionals you're interested in working with related to some of the things I stated above - you also need to come as close as possible to the 'ideal situation' you're interested in when asking for a quote.Good luck

OUr adoption costed around 17, 500 and that included lawyer fees to leaglize our contact agreement. Every agency will differ in their costs and some fee vary based on your yearly income. Not sure how much private domestic adoptions cost but I would expect it would be in the 20000 dollar range. Good luck and just make sure you research your agencies before making a final decision
