Congratulations! I can't wait until we get our referral. I am pretty sure we still have quite some time to wait. We have been registered in Country for 6 months. How was your trip? I would love to hear details!!

How long after you received your official referral before your first trip? About how long are they giving you between trips as an estimate? Were you there about 5 days or so? Can you say where you were in Bulgaria? So many different regions. We will be traveling to two different regions. Trying to guage how all this works. Congrats! How old is your child?

We also just traveled for our first trip.
Received our MOJ approval on Nov 5, official referral on Thanksgiving (Nov 26) and traveled on Dec 12.
Estimate between trips is 3-5 months, with 4 months seeming most likely.
We arrived on Sunday and left the following Sunday. However, we could have feasibly flown out on Friday afternoon/evening.
I arrived to Sophia on Saturday and departed the following Saturday... I did it this way in order to explore Sophia. Travel between Sophia and my daughter's orphanage was by car. Most cities are close enough to drive to... I want to say the longest drive is about 6.5 hours.
I have heard that when you are adopting children from 2 different citites then you have to spend 5 days at each place, but I am not an expert.
The orphanages were clean and my child seems to be well adjusted and was able to hold conversations and eye contact... she had wonderful relationships with her nurses, doctors and her "baba" (Grandmother).

I'm just starting the process for a Bulgarian adoption as a prospective single father. I'd really appreciate emailing or speaking with you to talk through the process, ups & downs, etc. I'm in Ohio and would like to opportunity to talk with you further.

I am not sure about adopting as a single father.... honestly I think you would need to contact the individual agencies to see if you could qualify as a candidate to adopt from Bulgaria.
Feel free to PM me if you like...
