What has been the best support that you have been given when you were placed with your child?
It could be your relatives/friends/community, it could be that you were more diligent in savings and found a way to save money, or to buy groceries cheaper?
What has been of great help to you?
I'll start:
*My mom has kindly payed my cousin who works cleaning houses and offices, to come clean my house from top to bottom every other Sunday, When baby L is able to take naps in the pack and play I have at my parent's house, she has offered to babysit every other Sunday so I can clean the house
*The daycare I"m using will kindly only charge me a holding fee instead of charging me for summer tuition during the summer to hold her place so she can stay home during my summer vacation (I work in the schools)
*my co-workers gave me a personal day of theirs (the speech therapy department) so that I didn't have any unpaid 'maternity leave'.(our maternity leave comes from disability insurance so although I could take my leave, most of it was unpaid)
ok let's make this a positive thread....how have you been helped, or what have you found helped you to save money, give you time, help out with your children?

Awesome Thread Dannie. Thanks for starting it.Well, first of all my family has been my biggest support. Grandma comes over once a week to take care of "The Queen". Plus, she will do anything I need her to do to help out. My Mom has cleaned my house, done laundry, spent the night when I am sick, etc. Grandpa is Mister Fix it around the house. He installed some cabinets in a bathroom, making Bookshelves right now for the Queen etc. As for my siblings, most don't live nearby or if they do travel a lot. So, they offer a lot of support via phone and email. Just to have someone to talk to is important as well. I have a Wonderful neighbor who has come over since Day 1 to help. She would take a night shift in the early days or now when DD is sick so I can get some sleep. She has put together strollers and other baby items. Another neighbor have been great about calling when they "made too much to eat. Can you possibly take some off our hands?" Those meals have been nice. Neighbors have also run to the store to buy Pedialite or whatever I might need. Awesome neighborhood. As for Daycare . . . we just started but they have offered to let me buy some milk from them. For some reason this is the only milk my DD will drink. If I think of any more, I will be sure to post them.

My career is only possible because of my mom's help. She rocks!!!
My babysitter charges me a reduced rate because she knows I"m a single mom. She's let me bring the kids when they are sick. I love her!!!
My boss lets me take the kids to their appointments without having to use my sick or vacation time as long as I come in for part of the day.
A friend, who I met via the phone at my old job and have never seen in person, sends me the clothes her children have outgrown and has saved me tons.
