Hi -
I am wondering whether anyone is able to refer me to any alternative to cover adoption cost. The financial institutions are not eager to make a short term loan for a modest sum (their words). Foundation can't since I do not have "non profit" status.
In my own case, I have been working hard to adopt my daughter's siblings. After 15 months, I have formally adopted her older sister. However, their beautiful and charming 9 year old sister remains in the Romanian orphanage she has called home her entire life. The cost of my trip is US $6,500 but the person who had committed to helping is no longer able to do so.
I am a single parent male, but I made a promise to my daughters that I will do everything possible to bring their sister to them.
I would appreciate any experience anyone has had with philanthropy or any other source.
Thank you:)
There are some organizations that will do grants or loans for international adoption. Also, if there is a Hebrew Free Loan Association in your area, they will do loans for adoptions.

This is a little late since the original question was asked in 2010, but for the sake of anyone that finds this post, have you tried the site Carefunder?
