:grr: I know this is completely MY PROBLEM but I don't hear the 100 good things that are said, I only focus on the 1 or 2 bad things that are said. Then I leave angry ( I think I'm nice and hide it ok w/ teacher )
But then when I get home I fume 4 awhile!
Never thought I'd be one of those parents that can't take criticism of my child. Not sure why I ever thought that. I don't even take criticism of myself well :o But I'm even worse when it is about my child.
No mom likes to hear criticism of her child! :)
It's all how we deal with it is all. Meaning, don't scream at the teacher.;)
I don't like these conferences either but for different reasons. I hate being rushed into the 10 min. they have to say everything about my child and really not getting a good picture of things. Especially in middle school..we get 5 minutes. FIVE. That's a waste of everyone's time, imo, so I don't go. For my other still in elementary school they do "Student Led Conferences" and again, it's a waste of time. If I want to ask my child how things are at school and see his school work, I can do that at home!
If I have any questions or concerns, I email the teachers but otherwise, no thanks!

i hate them and we haven't even started preK yet. i cannot imagine how sensitive i'll be in "real" school.
i hated them as a teacher...i didn't feel like i was telling them anything they didn't know. i always communicated successes and failures with parents all year...so conferences just seemed like a rehashing. as a parent...i hate them because the teacher just seems bugged i even bothered to show up. lol.

YES! Exactly it!!!
bad parent, bad!
Yes, our conf were set up for 15min for Pre K. to review testing done for K. Overall DD did well on the testing w/ very minor things that still need to be reviewed.
Ur right the time limit was one issue. She was running 15 min behind b4 I got there and even more behind after me since ours took 30 min.
But the main issue is still "behavior" which is a discussion we'd already reviewed ! I just hate hearing it again! With the main issues being that she
#1 -- doesn't always show respect for authority
#2 -- doesn't always pay attention.
More emphasis on "attention". She continually says she doesn't think DD is ADD.... BUT if that is the issue I'd sure like to do what I can b4 she goes to K.
