I have adopted from both Poland and Russia and love both countries. Right now the wait seems longer in Poland and there are fewer younger children because the Polish people are more likely than the Russian people to adopt. There are siblings available. The time in Poland was longer for me than the time in Russia. I did like that in Poland I had more time with my son than I did with my daughter when I was in Russia.

We have adopted from Russia and are in the process of adopting from Poland. We have just started our Polish adoption process though. We are using St. Mary International Adoptions. I can't discuss the agency on here but send me a PM if you have any questions about them. Our Russian adoption was 6 1/2 years ago and a lot has changed in the program since them. It appears that in both countries the children will be at least 1 year old or older before they are eligible for international adoption. Siblings do seem to be adopted frequently from Poland. Like Lorraine said the time spent in Poland is longer than in Russia but your child is with you most of that time. PM me if you have any specific questions I might could help with.
We adopted three children (biological siblings) a little over a year ago. From the moment we sent the application til we said yes to our fourth referral it took us eight months. The speed and waiting period all depend on the requirements you list in your home study.
If you're looking for a 2 year old boy, it will be a lot longer than if you were looking for "a boy or a girl age 2-5", and it will go even faster if you list it as "a sibling group of 2 children ages 2-8" or it could go even faster than ours did when you list it "a sibling group of 2 or 3 children, ages 2-10."
In our case we were very specific, we wanted 2 boys. We added a sentence in our home study that said, "with a possibility of a third child, possibly a girl."
We rejected the first referral a month after we submitted the paperwork (we weren't ready!). Then we rejected two more referrals because the gender, ages and number of children were not what we wanted.
We adopted the fourth referral we received.
If you'd like more information about the agency we used, please PM me and and I will send you more information.
We are adopting from Poland and have been waiting six months since our dossier arrived there. We were told to expect at least a 10-12 moth wait for a referral.
We said one child with the possibility of two siblings. Ages 2-6 years old, boy or girl. The good thing about Poland is that there are no extra fees to adopt siblings. We are emphasizing one child, but we are approved for two (just in case that's what we end up deciding based on referrals).
thank you so much for all of your information. it sounds like poland has it's advantages, especially in adopting siblings. I know we aren't allowed to discuss agencies however there don't seem to be as many for poland. if anyone would pm agenices & experiences i would really appriciate it.
