Does anyone know when you are able to baptize your child. Is it when you come home with the child or do you have to wait?
I was told by my priest that I could not baptize my foster daughter until we received adoption papers that showed we were her parents. Each Sunday he does a special blessing over her until that day arrives.

Our DD was baptized at 11 weeks (postTPR but before finalization). Apparently, different parishes handle it differently. Good luck!
Our girls were baptized prior to finalization, too. (We did domestic infant adoption- Post bparents' wait period, though.) Our church did not even ask for any paperwork- other than sponsorship letters and god parent info- we just told them they were adopted and gave them the names we chose for them. Good luck
One parish priest told us we would have to wait for finalization, at another parish we were told we'd just need to show some paperwork showing the adoption was eminent.
Of course this was during our domestic search.
