I was born into an adaption agency and placed with a great family. It is time that I started my search for my birth mother. I have very little info on her. She was I believe 19 when she gave me up at birth. I was born in the Springfield Mass area. If you have any info please dont hesitate to respond.
Hi -
Check out http://laws.adoption.com/statutes/massachusetts-laws.html.
If you're 21 & older you CAN get your identifying adoption records from the state. You can also contact the agency that placed you & they should release any information that they have as well.

Actually, as I understand MA open records law, only adoptees born before 1974 (I believe) may get their original birth certificates (it's a crazy rule, imo).
You can however contact the agency. I know in my DH's case, the MA agency would "connect" the adoptee and birth parent if both said they were interested. Someone from your birth family may have contacted the agency already. Also, your agency can give you non-identifying info which may help you figure out how to find them. Best of luck to you! I am sorry that MA has such a moronic law. (Hopefully, it's changed since I last looked...).
