I recently heard of "baby born adoptions". Does anyone know anything about those type of adoptions(i.e what agencies have them, how it works)? Thank you all for your time.
I would think most agencies would have baby born situations. A baby born is when the baby has already been born and the bmom decides to place for adoption. I'm sure all situations are somewhat different so I'll tell you about our situations.
We got our first baby born call around 3 pm. The agency had previously shown profiles to the bmom of couples that were open to her situation (with regards to race, drug exposure, openness etc). The bmom chose us. The agency sent us a pic of the bmom, was going to the hospital and was going to forward us a pic of the baby and give us the travel details. The next call we received, the SW told us the mom had decided to parent.
For our second situation, we were better prepared in that we had a suitcase packed with everything we would need for 2 weeks for the baby and a suitcase with some stuff for us. We got a call around noon that a bmom had chosen us. Shortly thereafter we got e-mail photos of the baby and the bmom's 30 page history. By 8:30 am the next day we were on a plane to pick up DD from the hospital. We met the bmom at the hospital and spent time in the nursery while waiting for DH's sister to come get us. The nurses showed us the basics of baby care and were wonderful.
So for us the process was the same regarding being matched-it was just after the baby was born.
