Need some advice...please..

Hello everyone. I would like some guidence if anybody can offer any. Here's some background info on me: I started the process of foster adopting about two months ago. I ended up chooing a FFA that you get both certified to adopt and foster all together. The reason I choose to go the foster adopt route was because I have worked with foster kids through my teen years and it inspired me to want to adopt from the system. But after attending pre-service training and filling out my application, the FFA and state adoptions told me they would not let me adopt because I am single and I work full- time. I couldn't believe it, needless to say I was heartbroken. I still want to adopt but am now looking into private adoption. I live in northern California(above Sacramento) and I was wondering if anybody is willing to share experiences with me about agencies/attorneys or facilitaors they used. I'm just starting my research so anything you can share would be great.
