So after petitioning the court in CA almost 2 years ago I finally got a court order to unseal and release my original birth certificate to me!!! Today a lady from Vital Records called me to let me know that my request for my original birth certificate was processed this morning. OMG! So now it's just a matter of time until I get my actual birth certificate and see my birth parents' names for the very first time. I'm going to restrain myself from attacking the mailman on a daily basis!
To anyone who is considering petitioning the courts...go for it. And, don't give up. I was told by many that I was wasting my time and petitions won't be granted. I just studied up on the CA Codes of Law (Family Code 9200 and Health & Safety Code 102705), talked to various people in Children and Family Services, Superior Court, Social Services, Vital Records. I even wrote to the Governor's Office. There are people out there who work in the field and agree that adoptees should be able to access our own information.
Best of luck to everyone searching. I'm hoping that there will be angels out there in cyberland who are willing to help me track down my birth parents once I have names. ;)
