My question is this should a parent be excluded and not allowed to foster to adopt if they have a Axis 2 diagnoses? Also if a psych eval is reqested with the evaluation to suitability to parent why is it that the department does not pay for it rather than the perspective foster to adopt parent? I realize they are quite expensive and many turn to foster to adopt because of the cost associated with adoption so dishing out somewhere between 2,000 and 3,000 or more dollars for this type of eval with no garantee that you will be accepted seems excessive.
It seems to me if a person has been stable for at least 10 yrs and takes their medication as prescribed and the person allows the depart access to their records, agrees to any parenting classes, willing to go to therapy, willing to have more frequent homevisits that they should be able to be considered.
Also if a person is having problems with the person they were assigned to at the licensing stage can they request to be reassigned to another person
I agree with you totally. Also, I believe you can be reassigned to someone else, or request and interview with a supervisor and the worker. The squeaky wheel usually gets the oil. :)

:thanks: horselover for your response. I get very:grr: especially when I hear that yet another child under the supervision of child protective services is harmed by a family they licensed. I don't feel just because you have an Axis 2 much less an Axis 1 diagnoses should prevent you from becomming a foster to adopt parent especially if you have past clinicians who have all but said you are fully capable fulling the job requirements and have seen you at your worst and seen you at your best.
My experience with child and family services has left me with a very bitter taste and from what I know now I feel that had I requested another worker that the outcome would have been completely different.
also I question the ethical practices of this worker because this worker and the department sent me a list of approved doctors by the department to have the eval done and once denied and right before my appeal hearing the worker stated to me that if I saw one particular doctor whom she has worked with in past and trusted if I saw him and he gave the green light so to speak that she would reverse her decision and grant me the license and this doctor was not on the list of doctors sent to me.
