I am seeking information on how and were to start the process of fostering and/or adoption in Zimbabwe. We are a young couple, no children, and have an opportunity to give a child a good home, love and chance in life. I have no idea where to start, we are both Zimbabwean Citizens. I know there are children out there in Zimbabwe who need homes, or young mothers who think there is no hope. Please if anyone can assit I would be most grateful.
Unfortunately, you have a big problem.
If both you and your spouse are Zimbabwean citizens, living in the U.S., you cannot bring a child from ANY country to the U.S. to live, on an adoption visa, even if you manage to adopt from that country. According to U.S. law, adoption visas are granted ONLY to families where at least one parent is a U.S. citizen. To bring an adopted child to the U.S. without an adoption visa would be very difficult; you would, most likely, have to live overseas with him/her for a few years and then apply for a regular dependent visa.
Now, if you go back to Zimbabwe to live, you can contact your government about the process. The Zimbabwean authority handling adoptions is the Ministry of Public Service Labor and Social Welfare, which can tell you how to go about it. While the Ministry is not keen on international adoptions, especially transracial adoptions, it would be happy to have domestic adoptive families who would be of the same race as the children to be adopted.

Thank you Sharon, for the info, we are living in Zimbabwe, and I will definiatley get in touch with the Ministry, and we would like to adopt within our own race, the difficult thing is that there are not many children of our race that go through the system, yet I know that there are children born who are not wanted or cannot be looked after. (eg. a Private adoption). I know that Zimbabwe is not on this web site, however I am hoping someone might look and be able to help us.
