My first post here! I have spent the last two years posting on a great TTC site, but I think we have hit the end of our road with infertility issues. Adoption has been something I've considered since I was 12, and I have given it serious consideration for a year.
I think I've narrowed down my country choices to a top 2, and Bulgaria is one of the choices. Now I need great agency recommendations from people who have been there, done that, AND had a good experience. I know you can't post names, but if you could PM me for my further research purposes, that would be extremely helpful.
And while you're at it, can you give me an overall idea of how happy you were with choosing Bulgaria?
I've heard such conflicting information about timelines... We'd like to adopt a young (under 3) girl (quite a popular choice, I think), and I realize we might have to wait a while longer. One adoption agency told me 36 months after the dossier is submitted while some agencies have 18 months posted on their websites. Which is more accurate?
It makes me kind of nervous to be here, totally switching gears, but I'm ready to move forward!
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi there! I recently brought my daughter home from BG. My daughter is Special Needs due to limb differences and is a bit older than what you will request I was also told at least 18 months when I was thinking of requesting as young as possible. Bulgaria has changed its laws and has begun to register more children for International adoption however it is difficult to quote a timeline because the tempo was a trickle from 2004-2008. I think once those families registered in 2008-2009 receive referrals it will be a more solid prediction, its just that as of yet the people active in forums and groups have not seen many under 3 healthy referrals yet. You may want to see about joining the Bulgaria_Adopt yahoo group... it is more active than here. :) Yvonne
