Well I was about 7 yrs. And my Dad was at work. My mom came to me with a book. Why was I adopted. She told me to read it and if i had any questions to talk to her about it. I freaked out and began to Cry till my dad got home. He talked to me about it. I understood alittle at the time. As the years went by I noticed more. I didnt look like any of my cousins. So I accepted it. Whats hard now is I only have 1 son and 2 daugheters. So I cant continue my bloodline any more. But I love my family. I just need more info about me.
Knowing that we're separate from our (adoptive) family is a truly painful experience. And it sounds like your a-mom didn't broach the news with you in a very comforting way.
The loss of bloodline and connection to one's past, the deep loneliness can be immense. And so I think the desire to know about one's origins is natural.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts here - I've found that it's a very supportive bunch and hope that you will too.

Nitewalker,
Have you applied for all the info you are allowed from the state your adoption was finalized in? If you tell me the state I will post the link to give you the info or you can go up to Library, select Laws, Full laws by State, select the right state and then Acess to Adoption records (think that is the sequence).
Have you asked your mom and dad for all the info they have or know or is that taboo?
Kind regards,
Dickons

Nitewalker,
So I am assuming you are over 21? Did you sign a waiver and leave a letter with the state? Did you ask if either or both parents signed a waiver? Did you sign a waiver in case you have siblings?
