Our caseworker has scheduled a meeting with our family as part of our yearly update. She has also asked for medical references, financial updates, police checks, reports from the kids schools, etc...Is this normal? It's tough for my husband to take time off for doctor's appointments, meetings, and so forth. Does everyone have to do this yearly? I was under the impression that it was every three years. Obviously we are willing to do it if necessary, but it's set up for next Friday and my husband is not able to make it now because he just found out he has to travel. Thanks!-Kate

She has not come every month. I have never even heard from her unless I call her. She is good about returning calls and is great when I have questions, but honestly, requesting all of this extra stuff when we just went through this last year is a real pain! We had our yearly inspection and had no violations. My husband is not going to be able to make our scheduled meeting on Friday as he has to be out of town on a business trip. I'm hoping she's not going to be angry with us, but he has to take off now to go to the doctor and to take my son (who is 9 to the doctor) and he has to be available to his company. They are making cutbacks and he is nervous about his job so it's really not the time to be taking days off/leaving early and he's crazy busy at work too. I'm afraid to question her about this again, but really, it seems unnecessary and we just don't have the time for all the unnecessary! You guys know how it is to deal with just the regular DYFS stuff...now add this in??? Really! -Kate

I've never had such a meeting with a caseworker. The OOL comes every year and this year I did have to get updated medical (Resource worker sent the paperwork directly to my doctor as per procedure). Also had to get updated fingerprints this year, haven't done that since I was first licensed in 2004. RW said this should be the last time I have to get this done.
When you say caseworker, are you talking about your resource worker? Mine comes every month and more often if I get a new placement (like within 5 days of placement, even short term). RW specifically said we'd need new fingerprints, dr. app'ts, etc at 3 years.I would consider asking his/her supervisor.Sounds like a major pain.Sandysis
Yes, sandysis, I mean resource worker! Sorry to be confusing. I'm trying to reschedule because my husband can't be here on Friday and I'm thinking about asking her supervisor, but I don't want to make waves at the same time....Maybe I can call someone at FAFS? hmmm- considering this!-Thanx!-Kate
