WOW... that's going to certainly rock DYFS' world! We've been closed since the beginning of this year. I know that two of my placements couldn't have possibly been placed with me if that legislation had been passed. They'd have been in the car for 1+ hours ONE WAY to get to their school (plus the DYFS employee's time coming to my house and then getting back from their school).
WOW...
That being said, SCORE! They always quoted that the kids lost an estimate of 8 months of schooling with every move.

it is just a rebuttable presumption that it is in the child's best interest to remain in their home district - but if DYFS can show that it is in the child's best interest to enroll where the FP lives, they can seek a ruling from the court to permit that. It does seem to be working though in that DYFS is making greater efforts to keep kids placed closer to home - I guess thats easier than figuring out how to transport kids long distances!! So Yahoo for that!
