We're black, and very proud of our heritage. I'm curious to know why you folks think black people don't adopt black babies with enough frequency.

Is the adoption rate really any lower than other races? I honestly am asking the question. I know there are a lot more children of color in need of adoption (proportionate to the total population) but that doesn't necessarily mean black families don't have the same adoption rate as other races.

I think the adoption agencies be racist. Im a black woman and the agency i was working with in Detroit told me i was a high risk because I had a previous criminal record. its just not fair, here i am turning my life around and they wont give me another chance to make a difference in our community. Guess you have to be a rich white guy like in Different Strokes in order to adopt a colored babies

We hear you, sister. We are a white couple in California, looking to adopt a baby from Oakland. We feel everybody deserves a second or third chance, regardless of crack possession or other convictions.
Hi everyone. I respect the African American parents's contribution here, but let me say as a "white" :eyebrows: person--I just hate to see you beat yourselves up like that! The system is racist! You people are still reeling from the effects of Jim Crow, institutional racism, and a thousand other evil white legacies. It's not because you have a "record," it's because of racist white republicans ect. Most African Americans I know are struggling to make ends meet, holding down three or four low paying jobs. Keep trying!
