Hello, my name is Amber Barger and I am a doctoral student in the Department of Clinical Psychology at Argosy University, Chicago. I am conducting research with individuals who have been adopted. This study will specifically examine the relationship between individual adoption experiences and the way adult adoptees feel about themselves and relate to other people. My interest in working with an adopted population stems from my interests in understanding how early interactions and relationships impact later relationships. My hope is to conduct this research to better understand the impact that early relationships and interactions with adoptive parents have on adopted adults.
In order to participate in this study you must meet the following criteria:
1) You must be at least 18 years old,
2) You must have been born and raised in the United States,
3) You must have been adopted prior to the age of 17, and
4) You must have been adopted by an individual(s) of the same-race.
If you are interested in this project and qualify for the study, you will be asked to fill out an online survey that takes approximately 20-35 minutes to complete. It is completely anonymous your name is not requested or connected to the survey in any way. You can request a copy of the completed study if you desire.
