I'm new here and hoping to find some guidance.
A little background:
- TTC since 2005, 6 miscarriages, $40K in fertility treatments
- Licensed for foster care 5/29/2009
- "E" was born on 5/30/2009, place with us on 07/19/2009 @ 7 weeks
- "E" is still with us and is now 18mo; no end in sight for her case :(
Through a series of fateful events, we're being presented with the possibility of adopting a baby girl, due in January. We're meeting with the "Emom", "Edad", and her mom this weekend. They'd like arrange an adoption privately (without going through an agency), and openly (which would be fine with us). They seem like a very loving family who are struggling to make their way through a difficult situation. We are thrilled at the prospect, but guarded. Witout being SURE of the situation, we're trying to prepare...
My questions are:
- we have an updated foster care home study in place, will we need a seperate ADOPTION home study?
- if so, how much will it cost?
- with the help of a family lawyer, and no agency involvement, how much can we expect for this to cost?
- should we expect any "flack" from CYS about this seperate "venture"?
- what, if anything, can we relay to the family to help them with this very corageous, loving, and painful decision?
any help you can give would be very much appreciated!!!
